Four of Vigour Events swimmers are taking on an exciting swimming challenge - they're taking on the English Channel. This week we're hearing from Julie Lloyd.
As I enter my 61st year I’ve had a few challenges on my bucket list! Pictured above is me attempting a one way Windermere Swim. Things didn’t quite go to plan but my 9 mile swim has helped in my training for the Team Vigour channel relay in October.
I’ve made sure my passport is up to date!
Completed my 2 hour qualifying swim in 13 degrees in Loch Lubnaig in just my costume. My Windermere Swim lasted nearly 8 hours in just my costume, I’m hoping the Channel will be toasty warm.
I choose one charity each year to raise funds for when I embark on my swim adventures, they usually have a personal link to me or my family. My charity this year is no different.
Whilst pregnant with my son, who turned 26 in January, I suffered from pre-eclampsia. Little is talked about this condition but it poses a serious threat to lives of mums and babies. It’s hard to believe that in the 21st century families are being devastated by this condition so I’m helping raise funds and awareness for Action on Pre-Eclampsia. I have a JustGiving page http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Julie-Lloyd15
As challenges go this is a great one and myself and the rest of the team look forward to it.
Please support this super team in any way you can. I hope you’ll all be glued to our tracker on the day.
