Third Time across the Forth for Team Venture Trust in 2018
July 19, 2018
On 22 September Venture Trust are delighted to be participating in a third successive Firth of Forth Crossing organised by open water Swimming specialists Vigour Events.
As Challenges go it is an unforgettable once a year opportunity to cross with around 100 swimmers between two of the iconic bridges.
Venture Trust have 2 experienced swimmers taking part so far in 2018 and we are hoping to double this to 4 or even more in the next couple of weeks.
Could you join them?
It may look so close when you are standing on the shore eating chips but is in fact 1.4 miles between South and North Queensferry. You need to be a strong, confident swimmer who can cover the distance in under an hour and able to train outdoors for the next few months if you don’t already have wild swimming experience.
I asked Victoria who swam in 2017 if she had any thoughts or tips for this year’s participants…. “Pace yourself and you’ll enjoy it more. Don’t treat it like a race. Treat those swimming with you as your friends and not opponents. Enjoy the festival feeling at these events. Don’t over analyse the swim. Go there to enjoy yourself and you will.”
Venture Trust works in the Scottish Wilderness and in the community with over 1,000 vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and adults each year. We help them to overcome challenges and make long term positive changes in their lives. To find out more about us click here.
Forth too cold? Annabelle swam 96 miles (the equivalent of the River Tweed) for Venture Trust in her local pool.
Venture Trust relies on our supporters to swim, run, cycle or bungee. Could you raise sponsorship doing something you always wanted to try?
Come along to our “Swimformation” Event on Tuesday 24th July 5:30-6:30 pm
