A 48-year-old mother-of-three has become one of the few people to swim the length of Loch Ness. Helen Beveridge said her skin turned blue during the 18-hour swim, which she finished at midnight on Monday. She wore a bathing costume with no thermal protection to complete the 22.5-mile (36 kilometres) route. She is one of only 16 people to complete the swim using British Long Distance Swimming Association rules.
Philip Hodges Cuts His Wake Across Loch Lomond
Philip Hodges was one of two swimmers, including Adrian Rotchell who finished in 14 hours, to complete the recent Loch Lomond crossing in Scotland.
The 44-year-old Hodges, who finished the cross-loch challenge in 13 hours 1 minute, trained by Ned Denison in Cork and was extremely grateful for the experience. "I believe Ned totally and completely when he says the waters of Sandycove are lucky. My time [at Sandycove] and the memories of the people and experience from the swims meant more to me than you could imagine during this swim [across Loch Lomond].

Donnie Maclean is swimming 1 million metres in honour of Milo Carter
A lovely, cheery boy who's had a really tough first 6 years of life. Milo had heart surgery within the first few hours of his life. At 3 years old, the GP found that he had cancer in several of his organs. Over about two years, he battled through very intense chemotherapy with so much energy, cheer and smiles, that you would very seldom know that he was suffering. He was given the "all clear" at the end of 2014. Recently, at still only 6 years old, Milo's cancer has come back.
Feeling pretty helpless about how else to help, Donnie has set a tough challenge to raise money for a charity that means a lot to the family. "Love Oliver" is a small charity which provides practical support to families at the Royal Hospitals for Sick Children in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Through the toughest times, the Carter family benefited hugely from the support from the lovely people at Love Oliver
